12 APOSTLES GOURMET TRAIL
Head inland to the Corangamite hinterland on the
12 Apostles Gourmet Trail
(
www.visit12apostles.com.au
) to
taste cheeses, chocolate, wine, whiskeys and ice cream among other gourmet regional produce.
Start at Timboon, an ex-logging town 15km from Point Campbell, home to
Timboon Railway Shed Distillery
( 03-5598 3555;
www.timboondistillery.com
; Bailey St; meals $13-20; 10am-5pm, from 6pm Fri), an his-
toric railway shed converted into a vibrant cafe. Inspired by Timboon's illegal 19th-century whiskey trade, it pro-
duces single-malts and spirits on-site. Watch the distillery process, sample a few whiskeys and vodkas, and nab
some keepsakes. The restaurant is big on local produce, and it makes its own ice cream and pizzas.
Still in Timboon,
Whiskey Creek Tours

legal whiskey industry.
