here ) is arguably Victoria's most rewarding village experience. It's partly to do with its loc-
ation, strung out along a forested, steep-sided valley down a road from nowhere to
nowhere. But, above all, Walhalla's charm derives from its authenticity. This is no theme
park, but instead a tiny hamlet where the timber houses tell a story of a mining boom that
went bust, leaving the town to settle back into gentle obscurity. It's a stunning, soulful
place.
