Herring Island is a
prelapsarian garden that seeks to preserve the original trees and grasses of the Yarra and
provide a home for indigenous animals. Within the park is an impressive collection of en-
vironmental sculpture, including work by Andy Goldsworthy (UK) and locals Julie
Collins, Robert Jacks and Robert Bridgewater. There are designated picnic and barbecue
areas. On weekends during summer, a Parks Victoria punt operates from Como Landing
on Alexandra Ave in South Yarra; other times you'll need a kayak to get here.
