The north side (with the TI) is interesting for window-shopping, people-
watching, and sun-worshipping. You'll pass several stores specializing in Fin-
nish design. At #35, Gamla Passage leads to a courtyard hopping with bars
and live music at night. Farther up on the right, at #39, is the huge Academ-
ic Bookstore (Akateeminen Kirjakauppa), designed by Alvar Aalto, with an
extensive map and travel section, periodicals, English books, and Café Aalto
(bookstore and café open Mon-Fri 9:00-21:00, Sat 9:00-18:00, also usually
open Sun 12:00-18:00).
