In-Depth Information
The highlight here is unquestionably watching the glassworks in action.
Arguably the best hot-shop tour in the region, this allows you to look over the
shoulders of glassblowers crafting both mass-produced, crank-'em-out table-
ware and high art fit to be shown off in a museum. You can visit the glass-
works and its gallery on your own. But if you know you're coming, call or
email ahead to arrange a 45-minute English tour—usually guided by Kristina,
whose enthusiasm makes the place meaningful. In the surprisingly modest ex-
hibition gallery, each piece is identified with a photo and brief bio (in Eng-
lish) of its designer, which personalizes the art (often offered for sale). You'll
also see historical pieces.
Cost and Hours: 30 kr, 20-kr extra for tour; usually open Mon-Fri
10:00-18:00, Sat-Sun 11:00-17:00, last tour departs one hour earlier (hours
vary; call or email ahead). The glassworks is much quieter—and less interest-
