In-Depth Information
Tickets: Regular tickets are sold on board. Simply walk on, and at your
convenience, stop by the desk to buy your ticket before you disembark (or
wait for them to come around and sell you one). Waxholmsbolaget offers a
deal that's worthwhile if you're traveling with a small group or doing a lot of
island-hopping. You can save 25 percent by buying a 1,000-kr ticket credit for
750kr(soldonlyonland;usethesplittablecredittobuyticketsontheboat).If
you're staying in the archipelago for a few days and want to island-hop, con-
sider the Boat Hiking Card. This five-day all-inclusive pass is good on either
boat line (420 kr, plus a 40-kr refundable deposit). Buy the card at the Wax-
holmsbolaget office or at the Strandvägen information office listed below.
Schedules: Check both companies' schedules when planning your itiner-
ary; you might have to mix and match to make your itinerary work. A single,
confusing schedule booklet mixes times for both lines. Ferry schedules are
complex even to locals, especially outside of peak season.
It's essential to carefully review and confirm your plans, ideally at the in-
formation desk in the glassy house on the Strandvägen embankment (see map
on here ) . Attendants will help you sort through your options and plan your ar-
chipelago visit (May-Sept Mon-Fri 9:00-17:30, Sat-Sun 10:00-16:00; off-sea-
son Mon-Fri 10:00-16:00, closed Sat-Sun; Strandvägen Kajplats 18—that's
boat landing #18, www.visitskargarden.se ).
