Beer Garden: Mosebacke is a gravelly beer garden with a grand harbor
view, perched high above town just past Slussen in Södermalm. Open only
on warm summer evenings and priding itself on its beer rather than its cheap
grub,it'sagoodplace tomixwitharelaxed youngcrowd(ablockinlandfrom

Krogen Soldaten Švejk, named for a Czech folk hero, is a lively beer hall
with woody ambience, a small pub up front, and a cozy dining room in back.
They have several Czech beers on tap and serve heavy, reasonably priced
Eastern European food (120-140-kr main dishes, daily 17:00-24:00, Fri-Sat
from 16:00, Östgötagatan 35, tel. 08/641-3366).
Patricia Restaurant and Party Boat is a fun, raucous place to enjoy a
basic Swedish meal surrounded by good-time Swedes. The menu on this old
steamer is a fun-loving surf-and-turf mix, with 250-kr plates and a 139-kr lob-
ster feed on Wednesday nights. The boat has one deck packed with dinner
tables, a bar on the top deck, and two dance zones below: one that's a schlager
pop bar and dance floor, and the other that's a late-night disco. The boat really
rocks with live music on weekends (music from 20:00, cover charge after
22:00). Consider having dinner here beforehand to get in free (Wed-Thu from
17:00, Fri-Sun from 18:00 until late, gay night on Sun, closed Mon-Tue, 200

To stuff yourself with all the traditional Swedish specialties (a dozen kinds
of herring, salmon, reindeer, meatballs, lingonberries, and shrimp, followed
by a fine table of cheeses and desserts) with a super harbor view, consider
splurging at the Grand Hotel's dressy Grand Veranda Restaurant. While
very touristy and a bit tired, this is the finest smörgåsbord in town. The Grand
Hotel, where royal guests and Nobel Prize winners stay, faces the harbor
