park at Sturegatan 12) and Norrmalm (between the train station and Kung-

O'Leary's Sports Bar is a sudsy place that transports you to Ireland.
While sloppy, it's good for basic pub grub and beer. And if a game is on, this
is the place to be—their motto is, “Better than live” (120-kr meals, Järntorgs-
gatan 3, tel. 08/239-923).
Hermitage Restaurant serves tasty vegetarian food in a warm communal
dining setting. Their daily special (100-kr lunch, 110-kr dinner after 15:00)
buys a hot plate, salad, bread, and coffee (Mon-Fri 11:00-20:00, Sat-Sun
12:00-20:00, Stora Nygatan 11, tel. 08/411-9500).
Kryp In, a small, cozy restaurant (the name means “hide away”) tucked
into a peaceful lane, has a stylish hardwood and candlelit interior, great side-
walk seating, and an open kitchen letting you in on Vladimir's artistry. If
you dine well in Stockholm once (or twice), I'd do it here. It's gourmet
without pretense. They serve delicious, modern Swedish cuisine with a 445-kr
three-course dinner. From June to August, they have weekend lunch specials
starting at 120 kr. Reserve ahead for dinner (200-250-kr plates, Mon-Fri
17:00-23:00, Sat 12:30-23:00, open Sun in summer only 12:30-22:00, a block
off Stortorget at Prästgatan 17, tel. 08/208-841).
Harborview Dining in Gamla Stan and Östermalm
(See “Gamla Stan Hotels & Restaurants” map, here .)
Pontus by the Sea is a classy restaurant with a long, covered, and heated ver-
andaofferinggrandharborviews.Pontusiswell-respected foritsmodernmix
of French and Swedish cuisine. Half the place is a sofas-on-the-harbor cock-
tail lounge. Though the restaurant is pricey, their bar menu offers some deals.
Call to reserve a harborside table (daily 12:00-24:00, off-season closed Sun,
Tullhus 2, tel. 08/202-095).
Djurgårdsbrons Sjöcafe, beautifully situated and greedily soaking up the
afternoon sun, fills a woody terrace stretching along the harbor just over the
Djurgårdsbron bridge. In summer, this is a fine place for a meal or just a drink
before or after your Skansen or Vasa visit. They have cheap lunch plates (90
kr, Mon-Fri 11:00-13:00 only); at other times, you'll pay 130-180 kr per plate
