Nomeland —The Sylvartun silversmith shop sells Setesdal silver in a 17th-
century log cabin (May-Sept daily 10:00-17:00, closed Oct-April, tel. 37 93
63 06).
Grendi —The Ardal Church (1827) has a rune stone in its yard. Three hun-
dred yards south of the church is a 900-year-old oak tree.
Evje —A huge town by Setesdal standards (3,500 people), Evje is famous for
its gems and mines. Fancy stones fill the shops here. Rock hounds find the
nearby mines fun; for a small fee, you can hunt for gems. The TI is by Route
9 in the center of Evje (daily 10:00-15:00; tel. 37 93 14 00). The Setesdal
Mineral Park is on the main road, two miles south of town (110 kr; July-
mid-Aug daily 10:00-18:00, mid-Aug-mid-Oct Mon-Sat 10:00-16:00, Sun
