Arrival in Stavanger
By Boat: Express boats from Bergen dock at Fiskepiren, just east of the city-
center peninsula and near the Petroleum Museum. From here, it's about a
10-minute walk to the center of town (turn right onto the busy road, Verks-
gata, then left on Klubbgata straight to the cathedral) or to the train station.
A taxi to a downtown hotel costs about 100 kr (tel. 51 90 90 90 or 51 90 90
50). The more central Vågen harbor is used only by cruise ships and excur-
sion boats to Lysefjord.

ticket and reservation office Mon-Fri 7:00-17:30, Sat 9:00-16:30, Sun
10:00-16:15). Luggage lockers and Norway-wide train timetables are avail-
able at the train station.
By Plane: Stavanger's Sola Airport is about nine miles outside the city
(airport code: SVG, tel. 67 03 10 00, www.avinor.no ). It's connected to down-
town by the Flybussen (100 kr, buy ticket on bus, Mon-Fri 7:45-24:15, 3-4/
hour, less Sat-Sun, 30 minutes, tel. 51 59 90 60, www.flybussen.no ). This air-
port bus shuttles travelers to the bus station (Byterminalen) and train station
(next to each other), the Atlantic Hotel near the city center, and the boat ter-
minal (Fiskepiren). To get to the airport from the city center, catch the shuttle
at any of these stops.
