▲Danish Railway Museum (Danmarks Jernbanemuseum) —Conveni-
ently (and appropriately) located directly behind the train station, this is an
ideal place to kill time while waiting for a train—and is worth a look for any-
one who enjoys seeing old locomotives and train cars. Here at Denmark's
biggest (and only official) rail museum, the huge roundhouse is filled with
classic trains, while upstairs you'll walk past long display cases of model
trains and enjoy good views down onto the trains. The information is in Eng-
lish, and there are lots of children's activities.
Cost and Hours: 60 kr, daily 10:00-16:00; Dannebrogsgade 24—just exit
behind the station, near track 7/8, and cross the street; tel. 66 13 66 30,

Funen Art Museum (Fyns Kunstmuseum) —This small, pleasant museum
displays Danish art from 1750 to the present. The chronological exhibit starts
onthefirstfloor,whereyou'llseeeverything fromDanishRomanticism (por-
traits, landscapes, and slice-of-life scenes) to the earliest inklings of Modern-
ism. Down on the ground floor, the collection gets very abstract. Abstraction
seems to suit the Danes, skilled as they are with clean, eye-pleasing design.
The large central courtyard is filled with temporary exhibits.
