Tours: Free 45-minute tours in English run late June-Aug daily at 12:00
and 15:00; May-late June and Sept Sat-Sun at 12:00; none off-season.
Boat Ride: The museum's workshop has re-created working replicas of all
five ofthe ships ondisplay here, plus others. For an extra 80kr,youcan gofor
a fun hour-long sail around Roskilde's harbor in one of these replica Viking
vessels (frequent departures—up to 7/day—in summer, fewer off-season, ask
about schedule when you arrive or call ahead).
Eating: The “summer café” on Museum Island has 25-40-kr cakes and
sandwiches; the bigger restaurant, in the large modern building, has 45-kr
lunch sandwiches and 175-225-kr dinners.
Getting There: It's on the harbor at Vindeboder 12. From the train station,
catch bus #216 or #607 toward Boserup (hourly, 7-minute ride). From the
cathedral, it's a 10-minute downhill walk.
Visiting the Museum: The museum has two parts: the Viking Ship Hall,
with the remains of the five ships; and, across the drawbridge, Museum Island
with workshops, replica ships, and more exhibits.
