HORSEBACK RIDING
For some, a horse saddle sure beats a bus seat, and it's a great way to absorb the sights,
sounds and smells of a country. Horseback-riding trips are a new, increasingly popular way
to reach otherwise inaccessible wilderness areas. The best place to try it is in Tupiza,
former territory of Butch Cassidy and the Sundance Kid. You get to see the multicol-ored
desert landscape, quebradas and cacti-dotted countryside. Other pleasant options for horse-
back riding are through cloud forest in Coroico, around La Paz - see Calacoto Tours

Sagárnaga, La Paz) - and in the cerrado (savanna) of the Reserva Biosférica del Beni .
