Buena Vista
3 / POP 13,300
Despite the presence of two hulking cell-phone masts overlooking the plaza, Buena Vista
is a nice little town two hours (103km) northwest of Santa Cruz, serving as an ideal sta-
ging point for trips into Parque Nacional Amboró's forested lowland section. Though
most foreigners prefer Samaipata for national park exploration, Buena Vista has some of
the best places to view wildlife, observe birds and see local traditions. The downside is a
sweatier, more humid climate.
