now accommodate sports bars. This is an amiable one, with eight plasma screens and happy hour specials that

ing at 8pm until it runs out. There are also free atomic wings to sate devotees of the church of Monday Night

13 Liquid Assets (Happiest Hours!)
Despite the rise of the $18 cocktail, an entire paycheck isn't required for a night on the town. Recession pressures
have opened up happy hours across town, and two-for-one and $1-off specials are all but ubiquitous. Even
sweeter deals can be found, especially in the cheap drinker's mecca of the East Village.
Bar None EAST VILLAGE For the longest happy hours in the city the choice is, without exception, Bar None.
You have to wait until noon, but then you'll get $3 Bud and Bud Light pints and $4 wells and other drafts un-
til 8pm. Stick around until 11pm and you can take advantage of Power Hour, 60 minutes of $3 Buds and Bud
Lights. Miscellaneous drink specials run from Sunday through Thursday evening, too. The environs are divey,
but it's perfectly amiable, and the prices can't be beat. 98 Third Ave., btw. 12th and 13th sts. 212/777-6663. www.barnonenyc.com .

Blue Owl EAST VILLAGE It's gotten hard to swing a cat in NYC without knocking over a tray full of fancy cock-
tails. Most purveyors charge up the yin-yang for their mixology, but hit a happy hour at Blue Owl and you'll
be sipping in style for just $6. The cocktail specials run weeknights from 5 to 8pm, extended to 10pm on Wed-
nesdays. Classic Mondays see half-price vintage cocktailing until midnight. 196 Second Ave., btw. 12th and 13th sts. 212/

Get Pretty Nailed at Beauty Bar
Beer goggles aren't the only way you'll look better in a barroom. BeautyBar 's famed Martinis & Manicures happy hours
connect stiff drinks and prettified fingernails. Get a cocktail (a Blue Wash, say, with Curaçao) and a number from the bar-
keep and then wait your turn for an able manicurist. The combo runs just $10, although after all the attention lavished
on your cuticles, you'll be wanting to tip as well. Weeknights 6 through 11pm, weekends 7 until 11pm. 231 E. 14th St.,

Jeremy's Ale House FINANCIAL DISTRICT When you need to show a tourist real New Yorkers, you can't do
much better than the über-authentic Jeremy's. A mix of blue and white collars hangs out beneath a burgeoning
collection of liberated ties and bras. The house is known for its huge Styrofoam cups, which hold a full quart
of beer. A Coors is $5. After-work happy hours (weekdays 4-6pm) feature half-price well drinks, $4 Coors and
Coors Light buckets, and $1.50 junior burgers. With the fish market departed from South Street there are fewer
takers, but construction workers and film students can still avail themselves of the Eye Opener, $1.75 for a buck-
et of Coors, available Monday through Friday from 8 to 10am. 228 Front St., btw. Peck Slip and Beekman St. 212/964-3537.

Moo Life Group The chainlet begun with the SPF-deprived Sunburnt Cow is as friendly and fun-loving as you'd
expect an Aussie production to be. Dinners are convivial enough, but the real action here is at weekend brunch.
All four locations are notorious for their generous pours on Moo Marys, Screwdrivers, Greyhounds, or—most
famously—Moomosas. Take your choice from any brunch item and pair it with all the booze you care to drink
and you're looking at a $25 commitment.
They're cash-only in the daylight hours. The Sunburnt Cow, East
