With the avant-garde ensconced downtown and in Brooklyn, the galleries that breathe the rarified air of the Up-
per East Side tend toward the staid side. Art here is of a classic bent, though the definition of classic is pretty
elastic these days. Expect to see master works ranging from the Renaissance to the last couple of decades. And if
you thought the asking prices were wacky downtown, wait until you see these . . .
