generation. Development of high efficiency hydrogen and oxygen evolution
reaction catalysts is high desirable. For PEC water splitting, there is still not
a single photoelectrode can achieve highly efficient water splitting under
non-biased condition. Nonbiased PEC water splitting can be achieved by
coupling semiconductor photoanode and photocathode. The charge balance
between these two electrodes is a major challenge. The combination of theo-
retical calculation and experimental efforts to design and develop better
photocatalytic and photoelectrochemical materials is fundamentally impor-
tant for solar hydrogen generation.
