would be much more convenient if fuel cells could use fuels that are more
readily available. However, as energy costs rise, the relative advantage of the
high energy conversion efficiency of fuel cells will grow, and the business
cases will strengthen accordingly (and this will occur alongside the expected
reductions in manufacturing cost). In addition to being more efficient in end-
use, development of fuel cells can also stimulate and ultimately lead to
increased efficiency in energy conversion and harvesting.
