Customs Regulations
Duty-free shopping within the European Union was abolished in 1999, and Slovenia, as
an EU member, adheres to those rules. You cannot buy tax-free goods in, say, Austria,
Italy or Hungary and take them to Slovenia. However, you can still enter Slovenia with
duty-free items from countries outside the EU. The usual allowances apply: 200 cigar-
ettes, 50 cigars, 100 cigarillos or 250g of loose tobacco; 2L of wine and 1L of spirits; 50g
of perfume and 250cc of eau de toilette. The total value of the listed items must not ex-
ceed €175/90 for those over/under 15 years of age.
