Hiking & Mountain Biking
The 1:50,000 GZS Pohorje (€8.10) map outlines various circular hiking trails that are as
short as 2km (30 minutes) and as long as 32km (eight hours). The latter covers the Šumik
waterfalls, Black Lake and Osankarica. Another good one is the 12km hike (three hours)
that leads northwest to the Lovrenc Lakes (Lovrenska Jezera), a turf swamp with 20
small lakes that are considered a natural phenomenon. The free map/ brochure Rogla Ter-
me Wanderwege/Footpaths has eight hikes and walks of between 1km (15 minutes) and
32km (eight hours).
Mountain bikers should get hold of a copy of the excellent free 1:100,000 Pohorje Cyc-
ling Map , with a dozen trails outlined from Maribor in the east to Slovenj Gradec and
Dravograd in the west. The spa's map/ brochure (1:50,000) called Rogla Terme Radfahr-
wege/Cycling Paths is much more basic with nine trails linking Zreče, Rogla and Areh.
