Biking
Cycling is an ideal way to explore the back roads and trails of the Maribor Pohorje. The
TIC offers the 1:100,000 Pohorje Cycling Map and the simple but useful Kolesarske Poti
na Mariborskem Pohorju (Cycle Trails in the Maribor Pohorje) . The sport centre rents
GT DHI Pro mountain bikes (per four hours/day €40/50) from the lower cable-car station.
Bike Park Pohorje

Operated by Pohorje Sport Centre, this excellent park starts at 1050m next to the upper
cable-car station ( Click here ) and wends its way down 4km through the forests, with
more than 30 different obstacles such as table-tops, banks, step-downs and jumps up to
6m.
CYCLING
Horse Riding
You can rent horses from Koča Koča ( 040 216 089) , a restaurant in a hut 50m from
the upper cable-car station ( Click here ) , for €4 if you are content to twirl around the pad-
dock three times, or €13/60 per hour/five hours to take one out on the trails. A trip in a
horse-drawn coach will set you back €25/40 per half-hour/hour.
Skiing
Maribor Pohorje Ski Grounds

Maribor Pohorje ski grounds stretch from Hotel Habakuk (336m) near the lower cable-car
station to Žigartov Vrh (1347m) west of Hotel Areh. With 80km of slopes, 36km of cross-
country runs and 20 ski lifts and tows (plus gondola), this is Slovenia's largest ski area.
Ski-equipment rentals are available from the upper cable-car station, and there's a ski and
snowboarding school as well.
