ological finds. There's Hallstatt metalwork from Pusti and Roman displays, as well as
items relating to the area's ethnology and agriculture. A 20-minute film introduces the

This colourful, leafy square, where a dry-goods and produce market is held every first and
third Tuesday of the month, contains stunning 18th- and 19th-century buildings, including
, which once belonged to the Knights of the Teutonic Order. Note the Maltese cross above
the entrance. To the northwest is the

of Judgment, with devils leading sinners to damnation.

Kambič Gallery

This suprisingly good gallery has 200 artworks donated by a university
professor and stages cutting-edge temporary exhibits. Metlika-born Alojzij Gangl
(1859-1935) has pride of place.

The Kolpa River is clean and very warm (up to 30°C in summer), so you might want to go
swimming
at the Primostek or Podzemelj camping grounds.

, a 233m-high small
hill less than 1km north of Metlika, with great views over the town. Another is the
