Getting There & Away
Bus There are frequent departures to Dolenjske Toplice (€2.20, 20 minutes), Otočec ob
Krki (€1.80, 10 minutes), Šentjernej (€2.70, 30 minutes) and Šmarješke Toplice (€2.30, 20
minutes). Up to 10 buses a day go to Brežice (€5.20, 70 minutes) and Kostanjevica na
Krki (€3.10, 40 minutes), with four to Ljubljana (€7.20, one hour). One or two daily buses
go to Črnomelj (€5.20, one hour).
Train Up to 14 trains a day serve Novo Mesto from Ljubljana (€5.50, 1½ hours) via
Ivančna Gorica and Trebnje Gorica. Ten of these continue on to Črnomelj (€2.90, 45
minutes) and Metlika (€3.60, one hour), where there are connections to Karlovac in Croa-
tia. There are two train stations - the smaller Novo Mesto-Centro is more convenient for
the town centre than Novo Mesto station.
