Taking the waters is the
sine qua non
of Dolenjske Toplice: the 36°C mineral water, gushing from 1000m below
the three covered thermal pools at the Hotel Vital, is perfect for therapeutic purposes.
Detox and beauty treatments are also available.

Balnea Wellness Centre

The large Balnea Wellness Centre, 200m north of the hotels and reached
via a lovely park or walkway, is composed of three parts. The park-like

counts four pools (three outdoor and one inside) with thermal
water of between 27°C and 32°C. In the

are a host of indoor and outdoor saunas and steam baths over two floors,
including a rooftop naturist sauna with excellent, err, views. The

has treatments and massages, including the rather sticky-sounding honey mas-
sage (€60). Hotel Balnea guests get into Laguna for free but pay €9.20/11.20 per adult/
child at Oaza. There are a number of combination tickets and packages available.
Hiking
Paths listed on the free
Dolenjske Toplice Municipal Tourist Trails
include four hiking
and six cycling trails. In addition the TIC distributes some two dozen separate sheets with
themed hikes, walks and cycle routes. One is a 2.5km
archaeological walk
west to
Cvinger (263m), where Hallstatt tombs and iron foundries have been unearthed. Nature
lovers may be interested in the 8km
herbalist trail
, a loop south to Sela and Podturn and
back via forest roads, which takes in a herbalist farm and the 15th-century Church of the
Holy Trinity at Cerovec. Further afield is the 2km
Dormouse Trail
, which makes a loop
from Kočevske Poljane, about 4.5km southwest of Dolenjske Toplice, and could be com-
bined with a hike to Base 20 (
