Sights
Kostanjevica Monastery
(Samostan Kostanjevica; 330 77 50; Šrabčeva ulica 1; library admission €1; 9am-

On a 143m hill 800m south of the train station, this
monastery was founded by the Capuchin Franciscans in the early 17th century and has a
wonderful
library
with 10,000 volumes and 30 incunabula.
The
Church of the Annunciation
(Cerkev Marijinega Oznanenja; tomb of the Bour-
bons admission €1.50)
has interesting stuccos. In the spooky crypt is the
tomb of the
Bourbons
(as per library, above), which contains the mortal remains of the last members
of the French house of Bourbon, including Charles X (1757-1836), who died of cholera
while on holiday on the coast in Gorizia and was buried here.
