Activities
Skiing
Skiiing is Kranjska Gora's bread and butter and the resort can get very crowded in January
and February. The season usually lasts from mid-December to early March.
Kranjska Gora Ski Centre

Gora's main ski area is just five minutes' walk from the centre of town. The slopes of the
Sava Dolinka Valley run for several kilometres to Rateče and Planica, making effectively
one big piste. There are lifts in the nearby village of Podkoren, 2km west of town, as well.
Together Kranjska Gora and Podkoren have five chairlifts and 15 tows.
SKIING
Planica Ski-Jumping Centre
( www.planica.si ; Planica) The nearby village of Planica, 6km west of Kranjska Gora and
across the motorway from Rateče, is Slovenia's leading ski-jumping centre and hosts fre-
quent competitions open to the public, including the annual Ski Jumping World Champi-
onships held in mid-March. Ask at the Kranjska Gora TIC if there's a competition sched-
uled during your visit.
