One of the better restaurants in Bled, the Iron Inn is just opposite
the landmark Grand Hotel Toplice. It has fascinating retro decor with lots of old house-
hold antiques and curios (including the eponymous iron) and serves some of the best fish
dishes in town.

This colourful and traditional Slovenian eat-
ery set within a generous-sized and very leafy garden may at first appear a bit theme-park-
ish. But the food is authentic and the welcome very warm. Offers good-value lunch spe-
cials for around €5.

This is a wonder-
ful choice for lunch along a quieter strip of the lake, about 3km outside the centre. The
daily four-course set lunches (around €10) usually offer a fish choice, such as the unfor-
gettable grilled trout we enjoyed on our stop.

Conveniently located on the same hill as many of Bled's hostels,
Rustika serves the best pizza in town and in this part of Slovenia. The terrace is one of the
prettiest in the neighbourhood.

The fabulous views are 'free' from the superbly situated terrace of the res-
taurant in the castle. It's run by Bled's catering and tourism school and staffed by some of
its students. Book in advance to land a table with a view.
