In-Depth Information
Public Transport
Ljubljana's city buses operate every five to 15 minutes from 5am (6am on Sunday) to
around 10.30pm, though some routes start as early as 3.30am and run until midnight or
later. A flat fare of €1.20 (good for 90 minutes of unlimited travel, including transfers) is
paid with a stored-value magnetic Urbana ( 430 51 74; www.jh-lj.si/urbana ) card,
which can be purchased at newsstands, tourist offices and the LPP Information Centre (
430 51 75; www.jhl.si ; Slovenska cesta 56; 7am-7pm Mon-Fri) for €2; credit can
then be added from €1 to €50. The central area is perfectly walkable, though, so buses are
really only necessary to reach destinations well outside of the centre.
Taxi
Metered taxis can be hailed on the street or hired from ranks near the train station, at the
Ljubljana TIC on Stritarjeva ulica, in front of the Grand Hotel Union, or on Mestni trg.
Flagfall is €0.83 to €1.50 and the per-kilometre charge ranges from €1 to €1.50, depend-
ing on the company and whether you call ahead (cheaper) or hail a taxi on the street.
Laguna Taxi ( 511 23 14; www.taxi-laguna.com ; Celovška cesta 228) Reliable radio
taxi with English-speaking operators.
