downwind from the zoo in Park Tivoli and known locally as Čad, serves southern Slav-
style grills, like pljeskavica (spicy meat patties) with ajvar (roasted red peppers, tomatoes
and eggplant cooked into a purée) and starters such as prebranac (onions and beans
cooked in an earthenware pot).

Sat) Often touted as the most authentic Bosnian restaurant in town, with a good selection
of grilled meats. There's often live music from September to June, when your fellow
diners are likely to provide as much entertainment as those performing. Service can be on
the slow side.

canal-side restaurant in Trnovo is the slogan ' Manna - Bžanske Jedi na Zemlji' (Manna -
Heavenly Food on Earth). A Chaîne des Rôtisseurs establishment, it has very stylish de-
cor, there's a wonderful covered inner courtyard for dining almost al fresco and the setting
is pretty nice.

night) The Ace Inn, in the passage linking Wolfova ulica and Slovenska cesta, is the place
for a special occasion, with an embarrassment of caviar and truffles, a good wine list, and
a few classic Slovenian dishes to balance the menu. The As Lounge in the cellar and
garden is much more informal, with cheaper sandwiches and salads.
