In-Depth Information
More serious hikes can be undertaken in the Valle Brembana, north of Bergamo. Most
of the area is covered by two parks, the Parco delle Orobie Valtellinesi and Parco delle
Orobie Bergamasche ( www.parks.it ), of which the first is easily the most spectacular. The
tourist office in Bergamo has details and you can find more information at
www.sentierodelleorobie.it . Otherwise, behind Ghiffa on Lake Maggiore, the Via delle
Genti is an historic walking path that has connected Switzerland and northern Italy via the
St Gotthard pass for centuries.
