Ludovico Sforza's downfall in 1499 deprived Leonardo da Vinci of his most generous patron. Ironically,
he and Ludovico were both to die barely 32km apart in the Loire valley in France: the duke imprisoned in
the dungeon of Loches castle in 1508, and Leonardo in the manor house of Cloux at Amboise in 1519.
