In a stout orange
building set amid greenery and just back from a modest sandy beach just north of central
Angera, this hotel is an excellent deal. Rooms are generally spacious, mostly decorated in
creams and whites and, in some cases, with windows or balconies opening up right over
the lake.

This building, home to a local herbs-and-orange based elixir, has been standing high in the
medieval hamlet of the Sacro Monte del Rosario since 1924. Inside are nine enchanting
rooms with art nouveau furniture. Room styles vary - the smallest is a little tightly
packed, while the suites, with their hardwood floors and high ceilings, will warm the
heart. Downstairs is a recommended restaurant.

This new place is out-
rageously good value, effortlessly combining medieval touches with modern design flair.
Most of the rooms have exposed stone walls, which offset nicely the classy and contem-
porary decor all dressed in white. It's also in the heart of the old town and feels like you
should be paying a whole lot more than you are. They also offer packages that include
dinner and boat tickets to Isola San Giulio.
