SEASON MATTERS
Around the lakes prices can fluctuate considerably depending on season, with Easter, summer and the Christmas/
New Year period being the typical peak tourist times. Indeed, many lakeside hotels only open from Easter to
October, going into hibernation once the colder weather sets in.
Milan is a case of its own, with price variations linked to the trade-fair and events calendar - the bigger the fair,
the higher the price and the greater degree of difficulty in locating a room. During the Salone del Mobile prices
can increase 200%. Likewise, Verona's summer opera festival and large-scale concerts put pressure on prices and
availability. August, though, is low season for Milan as everyone escapes to the lakes for annual holidays.
