5.15am and 11pm (€6, 20 minutes, every 20 minutes from 6am to 11pm) and depart from
Porta Nuova train station. A taxi costs €30.
Getting Around
BUS
Verona's bus and main train stations are both at Porta Nuova. ATV bus numbers 11, 12, 13
and 51 (numbers 90, 92, 93 and 98 on Sunday) shuttle between the train station and
Piazza Brà (hourly tickets €1.50). Buy tickets onboard (correct change required).
CAR
Verona is at the intersection of the A4 autostrada between Milan and Venice (exit at Ver-
ona East) and the A22 between Modena and Trento (exit at Verona North). Southern Lake
Garda is 30km away.
The centre of Verona is restricted to traffic. Useful car parks fringe the city, some as
cheap as €5 a day. The nearest car park to the city centre is 400m south of Piazza Brà at
Piazza Cittadella (per hour/day €2/14).
Tourists staying within the limited traffic zone (ZIL) need to obtain a permit from their
hotel or B&B in order to park within the historic centre.
TRAIN
Verona's rail links include those with Milan (€11.55 to €21.50, 1½ to 2 hours depending
on service), Mantua (€3.45, 40 minutes), Bologna, Florence and Rome. Regular services
also connect with Austria, Switzerland and Germany. Lake Garda is only a short hop
away, with hourly links to Desenzano del Garda (€3.80, 25 minutes).
