Getting There & Around

From Agno airport, Darwin Airline

flies to Geneva from where there are connecting flights elsewhere in
posite the main train station in Lugano to Agno, from where it's a 10-minute walk to the
terminal.
BUS
Lugano is on the same road and rail route as Bellinzona. All postal buses leave from the
main bus station at Via Serafino Balestra. One goes to Menaggio, on Lake Como, via Por-
lezza. Local bus 1 runs from Castagnola in the east through the centre to Paradiso, while
bus 2 runs from central Lugano to Paradiso via the train station. A single trip costs Sfr1.50
to Sfr2.20 (ticket dispensers indicate the appropriate rate) or it's Sfr6 for a one-day pass.
The main local bus terminus is on Corso Pestalozzi. For Morcote, get bus 431 at Piazza
Rezzonico (30 to 35 minutes).
CAR
From Milan, the A9 autostrada via Como becomes the A2 after the border at Chiasso and
proceeds through Lugano to Bellinzona and central Switzerland.
Parking is mostly metered in central Lugano.
TRAIN
There are rail links to most major cities in Switzerland. More locally, trains run to Melide
(Sfr4, six minutes). Trains connect Lugano with Como (Sfr12, 35 to 55 minutes) on the
Italian side of the border, with onward connections to Milan and elsewhere.
The main train station is likely to be the only one you need - the Ferrovia Ponte Tresa
station serves the local 12.3km-long railway line between Lugano and Ponte Tresa on the
Italian border.
