TO/FROM THE AIRPORT
Bus Malpensa Shuttle ( 02 585 83 185; www.malpensashuttle.it ; ticket €10) coaches depart from Piazza
Luigi di Savoia, next to Stazione Centrale, every 20 minutes from 3.45am to 12.30am,
taking 50 minutes to the airport. Air Bus ( www.atm-mi.it ) coaches, run by ATM, depart from
the same location for Linate Airport (adult/child €5/2.50, 25 minutes) every 30 minutes
from 6am to 11pm. Autostradale ( 02 720 01 304; www.autostradale.it ) runs buses every 30
minutes between 2.45am and 11.30pm from Piazza Luigi di Savoia to Orio al Serio Air-
port, near Bergamo (adult/child €5/3.50, one hour). Orio Shuttle ( 035 33 07 06;
www.orioshuttle.com ; adult/child €5/3.50, one hour) is similar, running every 30 to 60 minutes
between 3am and midnight.
Taxi There is a flat fee of €90 to and from Malpensa to central Milan. The drive should
take 50 minutes outside peak traffic times. For travellers to Terminal 2, this might prove
the quickest option. The taxi fare to Linate is between €10 and €20.
Train The Malpensa Express ( 02 7249 4494; www.malpensaexpress.it ) departs every 30 minutes
from Terminal 1 to Stazione Centrale (adult/child €10/5; 50 minutes) and Cadorna Nord
(adult/child €11/5; 30 minutes) between 5.25am and 11.40pm. Passengers arriving or de-
parting from Terminal 2 will need to catch the free shuttle bus to Terminal 1 train station.
BICYCLE
BikeMi ( www.bikemi.it ) is a public bicycle system with stops all over town. Get passes online
or by dropping into the ATM Info Point (
7.45am-7.15pm Mon-Sat) at

the Duomo, Cadorna or Centrale metro stops.
CAR & MOTORCYCLE
It simply isn't worth having a car in Milan. Many streets have restricted access and park-
ing is a nightmare. In the centre, street parking costs €1.50 per hour in the city centre. To
pay, buy a SostaMilano card from a tobacconist, scratch off the date and hour, and display
it on your dashboard. Underground car parks charge between €25 and €40 for 24 hours.
PUBLIC TRANSPORT
Milan's public transport is run by ATM ( 800 80 81 81; www.atm.it ) . The metro operates
between 6am and 12.30am and consists of three major lines: M1 (red) connects Duomo
with Porta Venezia, the castle, Corsa Magenta and the Fiera; M2 (green) connects Porta
Garibaldi with Brera and Navigli; and M3 (yellow) connects the Quad with Porta Ro-
mana.
A ticket costs €1.50 and is valid for one metro ride or up to 90 minutes on ATM buses
