Getting There & Away
AIR
Malpensa Airport ( 02 232323; www.seaaeroportimilano.it ) Located 54km northwest of the city;
northern Italy's main international airport.
Linate Airport ( 02 7485 2200; www.milanolinate.eu ) Located 7km east of the city century; do-
mestic and a handful of European flights.
BUS
National and international buses depart from Lampugnano bus terminal (Via Giulia Natta) (next to
the Lampugnano metro stop), 5km west of central Milan. The main national operator is
Autostradale ( www.autostradale.it ). Tickets can be purchased at the main tourist office.
CAR & MOTORCYCLE
The A1, A4, A7 and A8 converge on Milan from all directions.
TRAIN
International, high-speed trains from France, Switzerland and Germany arrive in Milan's
vast Stazione Centrale (Piazza Duca d'Aosta) . The ticketing office and left luggage are located on
the ground floor; the tourist information booth is opposite platform 13. For domestic
tickets, skip the queue and buy your tickets from the multilingual, touch-screen vending
machines, which accept both cash and credit card. High-speed Freccia trains have their
own information lounge. Daily international destinations include:
Florence (€19-50; 1½-3½ hours; hourly)
Geneva (€78; 4 hours; 3 daily)
Munich (€99-130; 7½-8½ hours; 7 daily) via Verona, Bologna or Venice
Napoli (€40-95; 4½-9 hours; hourly)
Paris (from €80; 7½-9 hours; 3 daily) via Geneva, Lausanne, Basel or Dijon
Rome (€55-86; 3 hours; half hourly)
Venice (€18.50-37; 2½-3½ hours; half hourly)
Vienna (from €80; 11-14 hours; 2 daily) overnight
