the low-lit garden.

;
Via San Marco 2; 9am-midnight Mon-Sat; Montenapoleone)
This
enoteca
(wine
bar) is set in a one-time Augustine refectory. Tastings can be had all day and you can also
indulge in food such as
carpaccio di pesce spade agli agrumi
(swordfish carpaccio pre-
pared with citrus) from a limited menu.
WINE BAR
La Vineria
WINE BAR
(
www.la-vineria.it
;
Via Casale 4; 3.30-8pm Mon, 10am-1pm & 3.30-8pm Tue-Sat Nov-Mar to 1am Apr-May &
Oct, 3.30pm-1am daily Jun-Sep; Porta Genova)
La Vineria strips away all the
aperitivo
hoopla
and serves up glasses, carafes and bottles of wine (and olive oil) straight from the barrel.
A glass of wine will set you back just €1.50 instead of the usual €8, but if you do fancy a
bite to eat they'll happily put together a hearty cheese and meat board.
Bar Magenta
(Via Giosué Carducci 13; 8am-2am; Cadorna)
Grab a seat in this historic bar and let Milan
come to you. Drift in during the day for espresso, sandwiches and beer, or join the stu-
dents during early evening for wine from a tap and a pavement position under the Liberty
signage.
BAR
Bar Jamaica
BAR
(
www.jamaicabar.it
; Via Brera 32; 8am-2am Mon-Sat, to 8.30pm Sun; Lanza)
Bar Jamaica may no
longer be the bohemian dive that gave Milan a fleeting reputation for brains as well as
style, but it's still an unpretentious watering hole. Students from nearby Accademia di
Brera nurse drinks for days on coveted sidewalk seats.
