Urban Style
With its lakeside promenade, medieval lanes and fine, frescoed churches, Como is as beau-
tiful as its chic inhabitants. Away to the northwest, Lugano is a Swiss version of the same,
although its old town wraps further around the lake.
Extraordinary Views
Lake Como and the surrounding area has countless spectacular lookouts. Above the lake it-
self, there's Brunate, Castello di Vezio, Monte Bisbino and Peglio, while further afield con-
sider Cima Sighignola, Monte Brè and Monte San Salvatore.
Lakeside Living
Como's lakeside villas have attracted everyone from Pliny to George Clooney and even
James Bond. The best examples are to be found at Como, Cernobbio, Bellagio and Var-
enna, although the most fabulous are Villa Balbianello and Villa Carlotta.
