14.5.2.1 BsFc
The BSFC of a CI engine when operated with JB, JBB, and JO decreases with increases in engine
load. However, it increases with an increase in JB/JO in the blend. This is mainly due to the com-
bined effects of the relative fuel density, viscosity, and heating value of the blends. Further, this
reduction could be attributed to a higher percentage of increase in brake power with load, as com-
pared with fuel consumption, and a lesser percentage of heat loss (Pramanik 2003; Agarwal and
Agarwal 2007; Sivprakasam and Saravanam 2007; Tiwari 2007). The difference between the BSFC
