There are any number of car-rental companies on Mahé and quite a few on Praslin. Due to
healthy competition, the cheapest you're likely to get on Mahé is about €35 to €40 a day
for a small hatchback. Rates on Praslin are about €5 to €10 more expensive. You can book
through your hotel or guesthouse. Most apartment and guesthouse owners have negotiated
discounts with car-rental outlets for their clients. A number of companies also have offices
at the airport.
Drivers must be over 23 years old and have held a driving licence for at least a year.
Most companies accept a national licence.
TAXI
Taxis operate on Mahé and Praslin and there are even a handful on La Digue. Agree on a
fare before departure.
