Getting There & Around
There's no airstrip on La Digue. The island is easily reached by boat from both Mahé and
Praslin; Click here for details.
There are a few surfaced roads on the island. Given that it is less than 5km from north
to south, by far the best - and most enjoyable - way to get around is on foot or bicycle.
There are loads of bikes to rent. Operators have outlets near the pier, or you can book
through your hotel. Most places charge around Rs 150 per day.
Ox carts used to be a popular mode of transport but are gradually being replaced by
open-sided trucks.
There are only a handful of taxis on La Digue, as most people get around on bicycle or
on foot. A one-way ride from the pier to Grand Anse costs around Rs 150.
