( 4371680; Anse Royale; mains Rs 150-450; 11am-9.30pm) Right on the beach at Anse Royale,
this venue with a casual atmosphere and a ramshackle charm is great for the indecisive -
the menu strikes a good balance between seafood, wood-fired pizzas and meat, not to
mention a wide choice of Chinese specialities. Don't expect swift service, though.
SEAFOOD, PIZZERIA €€

INTERNATIONAL, BAR €€€
( 4372010; www.laplaine.sc ; Le Cap; mains Rs 230-300; lunch & dinner Mon-Fri) At Takamaka Bay
distillery ( Click here ) , you couldn't ask for a more atmospheric setting - think a lovely old
colonial house, creaky parquet flooring and Creole furnishings throughout, and an enti-
cing menu featuring a small selection of fish and meat dishes. Lunch is a more casual af-
fair, with burgers and light meals (from Rs 160). The terrace at the back opens onto a trop-
ical garden. Lovely.
