den infuses her cooking with a panoply of flavours...think Thai casserole, roasted duck
with foie gras, dim sum or

(a Belgian stew). Presentation is impeccable, decor is
enticing, with large, well-spaced tables and high ceilings, and the place fills up reliably.
Plus it has the added bonus of offering absolute waterside tables and chairs. It has a can't-
go-wrong wine list - treat yourself to a Chablis Premier Cru (a French white).

The 'Black Pearl' scores high on at-
mosphere, with an eye-catching nautical theme and seafaring paraphernalia liberally
scattered around the dining rooms (can we borrow your superb model ships?). The food -
mostly fish and meat dishes with an Italian twist - doesn't quite live up to the promise of
the surrounds, though.

An old favourite of visitors and locals
alike, this restaurant specialises in Italian cooking. It might feel weird to sit down to
gnoc-
chi della casa
and breaded veal on a tropical Indian Ocean island, but go with the flow -
the low-lit ambience on the breezy terrace overlooking the sea is suitably romantic despite
the dated decor. The
tiramisu
will finish you off sweetly. At the end of the coast road near
Danzil.

prise three- or five-course
menus
concocted at this hip eatery with a strong design-led de-
cor. The food is imaginatively prepared and beautifully presented, but we found the prices
somewhat inflated.
