We're suckers for the relaxing atmosphere that prevails in this oasis of calm, near the
lighthouse. The five wooden bungalows are kept in good nick and are set in a well-tended
tropical garden. Added pluses include a swimming pool and a restaurant ( menus €15-36).
The kitchen features salads made with local produce and locally caught fish. Air-con is
extra (€4).
La Cuisine de Clemencia
( 0692 80 01 47, 0262 47 52 78; lacuisinedeclemencia@orange.fr; 18 Chemin des Galets, Bras Pistolet; d incl
breakfast €75) This B&B is a winner, not least for the marvellous sense of peacefulness that
wraps the property, in a secluded hamlet up in the Hauts. The stand-alone bungalow feels
like a cosy doll's house and proffers ample coastal views. At the end of the day, make sure
you treat yourself to a copious table d'hôte (€25); the delicious Creole specialities are
made using local produce. From Quartier-Français, take the D46 in the direction of Deux
Rives, then follow Route des Hauts, Église du Père Laval.

Les Berges du Bocage
( 0262 94 43 17; 1 Chemin du Bocage; mains €10-20, lunch buffet €12; lunch & dinner Mon-Sat) The lunch
buffet, with five different Creole and Chinese dishes, is brilliant value, and the location, in
a verdant property by the river, is ace. It's at the southern end of town.
