In-Depth Information
( 0692 15 79 31; RN2, Le Tremblet; mains €11-20; lunch) A fine specimen of a restaurant, Le
Vieux Port is ideally situated in a tropical garden about 500m south of the 2007 lava flow.
It is strictly local cuisine - albeit of a refreshingly creative nature. Locals rave about the
rougail boucané (smoked pork ribs prepared Creole-style) and the delicious palm-heart
salad. It also features a repertoire of fish dishes that you won't find elsewhere, such as
maccabit (a kind of grouper). Reservations are advised on weekends. It also does take
away. Cash only.
