It's well worth exploring the Terre Sainte district, situated to the east of the centre.
Though no longer the traditional fishing village it used to be, this area has its own peculiar
appeal, especially along the seashore, where fishermen can be seen playing dominoes in
the late afternoon.

west end of Blvd Hubert-Delisle - a staple of local life.

the small covered market is a great place to wander if you're after fresh fruit, vegetables,
local spices and herbs, vacoa bags and the usual assortment of Malagasy crafts.
La Saga du Rhum

want to understand how the ambrosia called rum starts in the sugar-cane fields and ends
on their palates should come to this museum, which is set on the site of the Isautier estate,
one of the oldest rum distillers on Réunion. It's about 5km northwest of Saint-Pierre (in
the direction of Bois d'Olives).

Beaches
For those who love nothing better than splashing in lapis-lazuli waters or lounging on
white sand, St-Pierre's main beach is the perfect answer. This is where you can find locals
taking a quick dip on a hot day. Hint: there's a lesser-known, more intimate beach in Terre
Sainte .
