10 Allée des Pois de Senteur; s €63, d €73-87; )
In a quiet loca-
tion on the eastern edge of town, La Ferme du Pommeau is a rambling two-star hotel con-
sisting of several nicely maintained buildings. Most rooms have benefitted from a touch-
up and are super clean. The Superior ones are slightly dearer but offer more privacy.
There's a heated pool, a farm (which you can visit) and a reliable
restaurant
(mains €15-28,
menus €26-38; noon-1.30pm & 7-8pm Mon-Sat)
on-site, which strives to use only local ingredi-
ents. Menu stalwarts include chicken curry, lamb cutlet and roast pork. Some English is
spoken at the reception.

One of the best-
known eateries in the area, this unfussy spot on the main drag is always full with Réunion-
nais families at lunch on Sunday - a good sign. The atmosphere is laid-back and the food
is similarly unpretentious with the emphasis on hearty, home-cooked Creole and Chinese
staples. All at very honest prices.
