The fare at this family-run veteran is certainly not gourmet but has a temptingly
pronounced regional flavour. Among the many winners are the Hell-Bourg trout, the
gratin de chouchou
(baked choko) and the
carri porc aux pommes de terre
(pork with
potatoes), all served at affordable prices in rustic surrounds. Portions are large enough to
satisfy the most voracious hiker. Takeaway is available.

BUFFET
€€
( 0262 47 87 87; 16 Rue Lacaussade; buffet €15-25; lunch Fri-Tue, dinner daily)
Superb setting: central
Hell-Bourg at your feet, the jagged peaks of the Cirques in the distance. The food is aver-
age, but the lunch buffet (€15) is good value.
