gîte
is a secure
spot to hang your rucksack, the rates are good and it's handily set on the main drag. It fea-
tures four salubrious four- to six-bed rooms with well-scrubbed bathrooms and communal
kitchen. Davina, your friendly host, can prepare breakfast (€6).

Clad in more wood than a Swedish sauna,
this is a good option if you're counting the pennies. The seven rooms feel a tad hanky-
sized but are perfectly acceptable and have private bathrooms. It's behind the eponymous
restaurant.

Although
the structure is starting to show its age, this B&B is still a reliable option. The two Su-
perieure rooms feature four-poster beds, wooden floors and pastel-coloured walls. The
cheaper Standard and Familiale rooms are less exciting, but the densely vegetated grounds
add a lot of charm.

rooms in the motel-like building lack character but they're fresh and tidy. Most upstairs
rooms have mountain views. There's a second building across the street, which features
four rooms that occupy two tastefully refurbished Creole houses - ask for the 'Chambres
Case Créole'.
